1/08/2006 10:24:00 AM|W|P|Kevin|W|P|I thought I was very safe taking JAX +20 1/2, but I was wrong! Byron Leftwich certainly should not have been playing. He threw 2 interceptions, was more immobile than usual in the pocket, allowing NE to pressure him on every snap. And with Fred Taylor looking like a gimp, they certainly couldn't run the ball. Frustration has set in, but I did only lose $2 yesterday. Let's just hope the Bengals and Giants win! Loretta and I went to our first Xavier Men's basketball game yesterday. It was a great time and left us wanting to come back again. I was never a big Xavier fan, but I am a big college basketball fan. Now that Loretta and I both have ties to the school (Loretta went there for undergrad and I am going there for graduate school), I'm sure we will start to follow the team more. They played really well yesterday, beating St. Bonaventure by nearly 30 points. Brian Thornton scored 19 and had 10 rebounds in the game. If they play like that the rest of the year, they have a good chance to win the A10 (as long as GW doesn't get any better). The Bengals play their first playoff game in 15 years today as they go up against AFC North rival Pittsburgh. It should be on hell of a game. The offense has been playing well this year (except for last week, but that was excusable since most of the starters were out after the first quarter). The defense, on the other hand, has been abysmal during the last 4 games. The big thing I'm worried about today is the run D. As long as they can stop Willie Parker, they should be fine. School starts up again this week for me. I have a Finance class on Monday for the full semester and an Operations Management class on Thursdays during the first seven weeks of the semester. That class will be replaced with Marketing during the last seven weeks. I've been in school for 2 semesters now, so I think I have the hang of it. The only problem is that these are my last "introductory" courses, so things will get much harder from here on out. Only one week left in my current position at work! On January 16th, I move into my new position as a Software Engineer in our Competitive Conversions department. Finally, I get to do what I've been wanting to do for a long time...programming! A couple good links for you sports fans. Whatifsports.com....a great site where you can run simulated games taking teams from any year for the NFL, MLB, NBA, NCAA BB and several other sports. Also, they have fantasy football and baseball leagues where you draft players from any year. I am particularly fond of the Hoops Dynasty product, where you become coach of a DIII school and recruit players and build up your team playing full seasons in 45 days. You can eventually apply for DII and even DI jobs! Bill Simmons ESPN Page 2...my favorite sports columnist...must read for any sports fan looking for creative writing and real-world relevance. Bodog.com...for those interested in making a wager. They have a 10% deposit bonus and some of the best lines on the net. Well, I guess that's it for now. I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a 4GB iPod Nano or a 30GB iPod or just keep my Shuffle. If you have any suggestions, let me know!
